About Angelo

Angelo was born, raised and educated in Madison, Wisconsin, where he acquired  an eye for aesthetics and a persistent work ethic from his parents, whom emigrated from Palermo, Sicily in 1939. His mother Maria (Palermo) learned her trade as a seamstress, tailor and dressmaker at the age of ten and continued to hone these skills in Palermo through her early adulthood.  At the age of 27 she met Angelo Filippo a 50 year old tradesman who had previously emigrated to the United States in 1910 at the age of 21.

Maria's father, Giuseppe Palermo was an accomplished painter, sculptor and furniture maker with many commissions completed throughout Italy.  Maria practiced her trade until her passing in 1998.  Angelo Filippo a self-taught artisan in concrete, stone/masonry and carpentry, passed on many of these skills to Angelo.

Upon graduation from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a Bachelor of Science degree in Construction Administration, Angelo worked for next 40 years in architecture and construction as a laborer, carpenter, construction administrator, manager and inspector/observer.

He has designed and built many residential projects during his career with an appreciation and influence from Frank Lloyd Wright's Prairie Style architecture with its clean horizontal lines and natural earth hugging relationship to its surrounding site. It continues to reach him as he currently resides in Madison, Wisconsin and has a portfolio of many Oak Park, IL residential projects.

Angelo is a licensed Wisconsin Dwelling Contractor/Qualifier. He is also licensed to perform home inspections in Wisconsin. He has completed coursework part-time online in pursuit of a master's degree in architecture with an emphasis in historic preservation at the Academy of Art University. He currently is preparing to sit for the exam in January 2018 sponsored by the American Institute of Building Design (AIBD) as a Certified Professional Building Designer (CPBD).
